11 Feb Carbon Neutrality
DiCOmo, which has always been focused to the environmental issue, has decided to further invest in the environment by obtaining, thanks to the consultancy of Rete Clima, a non-profit organization, the calculation of its organizational carbon footprint and subsequently ISO 14064-1: 2019 certification.
The “carbon footprint” is the parameter that, better than any other variable, allows us to determine the environmental impacts that anthropogenic activities have on climate change and consequently on global warming.
In fact, the data allows estimating the emissions into the atmosphere of greenhouse gases caused by a product, a service, an organization, an event or an individual, generally expressed in tons of CO2 equivalent, calculated along the entire cycle of life of the system under analysis.
DiCOmo, following the calculation of its carbon footprint, neutralized its greenhouse gas emissions supporting a certified “carbon reduction” project: the construction and maintenance of a hydroelectric plant in the state of Mato Grosso, located in the central-eastern Brazil.
During this process, after the first phase of carbon footprint assessment, we proceed with the management of CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions and subsequently with the offsetting / neutralization of the same, through carbon credits generated by international environmental protection projects, thus becoming zero-emission (i.e. “carbon free” or “carbon neutral”).
All the above allows to:
- take action against climate risk, the most significant environmental risk of the modern era
- avoid the risk of Greenwashing
- neutralize the climate impact of the company and products or services
- communicate the company’s environmental commitment to internal and external stakeholders
- improve and consolidate the corporate reputation
- contribute to the achievement of the SDGs (United Nation Sustainable Development Goals)
In addition to the international project, DiCOmo has also decided to sponsor the planting of 20 trees in Milan, next May, supporting the urban forestry project to spread naturalness within the city, promote ecosystem services and a new ecological connection and also help neutralize the CO2 of human activities. These are therefore concrete, useful and traceable compensatory actions: a true sign of environmental responsibility towards one’s own territory.
DiCOmo, because of it, can therefore declare itself “carbon neutral“, thus consolidating its position in favour of environmental protection, because (as we always say) “There is no planet B!“
